What is Toledo?

Toledo is a REST API that enables an end-to-end workflow from a content repository or platform to a translation environment and back. cApStAn’s translation technology team (TTT) designed Toledo for autonomous integration of translation, translation quality estimation and optional further processing.

Localisation: The Big Picture

Content comes in a variety of forms and different pieces of content have different localisation requirements.

Based on these requirements, we decide if Toledo can be utilised in our workflows:

Why the name Toledo?

The name is easy to pronounce, and it is an homage to the Toledo School of Translators (Escuela de Traductores de Toledo), where a group of Christian, Muslim and Jewish scholars worked together in the 12th and 13th centuries. Books and treatises in Arabic or Hebrew would be translated into Castilian by Muslim and Jewish scholars, and from Castilian into Latin by Castilian scholars, thus letting long-lost knowledge spread through Christian Europe again.

Client Testimonial

“cApStAn’s ability to adapt and implement the MT process has ensured quality is retained, without making cost an insurmountable barrier, as we increased the volume of content in our system by an order of magnitude.”

“Excellent support from cApStAn to meet our language and technology needs! We’ll discuss our future plans soon to add functionalities to the platform.”
