Generative AI in test adaptation: Steve Dept to speak in the ITC Webinar Series

Generative AI in test adaptation: Steve Dept to speak in the ITC Webinar Series

Is it desirable, necessary or just reckless to introduce generative AI in test adaptation workflows? On Friday 6 November 2026 at 16:00 CET / 10:00 EST, cApStAn Founder Steve Dept will explore this question in the International Test Commission’s Webinar Series, moderated by Prof. Dr. Felipe Valentini.

Drawing on international large-scale assessments, including PISA, Steve will discuss how generative AI and machine learning have been introduced at different points in test adaptation workflows, combined with reviews by subject matter experts and revision by linguists.

For professionals involved in assessment development, translation and adaptation, the webinar offers a practitioner’s perspective on the selective use of these tools. The discussion will connect AI-supported workflows with the linguistic and methodological demands of adapting tests across languages and cultures, with cross-language comparability remaining central.
