Translation verification refers to linguistic quality control with equivalence checks and, since 2000, cApStAn is a pioneer in this field.

Our first task is to understand the purpose and function of a document; and to convey that understanding to the linguists we work with.

cApStAn develops verification procedures in collaboration with researchers and with the client.

Verifiers are trained to implement these procedures and document their verification work
(i) in English; (ii) in a standardised manner.

cApStAn’s network of experts feeds a wealth of empirical contributions into research on best practices to make sensitive texts commensurable across languages, across countries, across cultures, across delivery modes and over time.

“Malheur aux faiseurs de traductions littérales, qui en traduisant chaque parole énervent le sens! C’est bien là qu’on peut dire que la lettre tue, et que l’esprit vivifie.”

“Woe to the makers of literal translations, who by rendering every word weaken the meaning! It is indeed by so doing that we can say the letter kills and the spirit gives life.”

François Marie Arouet, dit Voltaire
