cApStAn's core business is Linguistic Quality Control (LQC) of translated documents. This means that all translations validated by cApStAn meet stringent requirements for linguistic correctness, accurate and consistent terminology, equivalence to the source, cultural appropriateness, and readability for the target audience.
To achieve this, cApStAn:

Analyses translation processes and develops
appropriate verification procedures, which are continuously updated,
improved, and tested in collaboration with linguistic researchers.

Selects translation verifiers according to strict criteria; trains them to implement cApStAn's procedures and document their verification work in a standardised manner.

Operates a
network of experienced verifiers: native speakers of over fifty
languages, all with higher education and from different backgrounds.

Delivers validated
materials together with verification reports in which the verification
team’s corrections and suggestions are clearly documented.

cApStAn's network has become a community of reviewers who know how to strike the best balance between ‘fluency’ in the target version and ‘faithfulness’ to the source version.
